Kids Sing-Along provides 15 traditional children's songs that are ideal for any application relating to kids or that recalls childhood themes. This superb collection of royalty free music contains favorites done in a variety of high-quality styles. The album opens with "I Wish", recalling all the fun of summer camp and scouting as upbeat children's voices join with quirky synth piano and simple drum percussion. Country fiddle partners with a snare drum on "Old MacDonald Had a Farm", which picks up the pace with staccato vocals from its youthful singers. The sound of whistling wind and a howling wolf are added to "Old Smokey", in which haunting harmonica and acoustic guitar recall the Appalachian origins of the song. Sweet childish vocals ring out in another Appalachian tune, "She'll Be Comin' Round the Mountain", accompanied by the toe-tapping strains of acoustic blue grass. This tune trickled down from the highlands of the Southeast and spread across the country via railroad crews of the 1890s, who were familiar with another classic song, "Railroad", done here with quirky synth keyboards, a train's whistle and spike-hammering effects for percussion. The collection goes Latin with "Senor Don Gato", on which thrilling Spanish horns and rhythmic synth sounds blend with childhood's melodic vocals.
Kids Sing-Along also features the soothing sounds of '60s folk, such as the delicate duet of "Sing a Song of Sixpence", with acoustic guitar and knee-slap percussion. Mellow grown-up voices also harmonize on "Twinkle Twinkle ABCs," while "Take Me Out" gives us a rousing rendition of the seventh inning stretch classic, complete with the strains of the mighty Wurlitzer and the good-time character vocals of what could only be veteran ball fans. And no collection of classic kids' tunes would be complete without "Whole World", here with the cheerful accompaniment of keyboards and guitar.
