  • How do I buy a music subscription?

You can buy a monthly or annual plan right here on our site. When you do, you are the owner and administrator of that plan. If you want to share a subscription with other users so they can download music, you can buy additional seat licenses for a price lower than the full subscription price.

    To buy a plan:
    1. Click Subscriptions & Pricing in the upper-right navigation bar.
    2. Select the subscription plan you want and click Sign up.
    3. Register or sign in to complete your purchase.
  • Can I license individual tracks or music albums?
Yes. You simply search for the tracks or music albums you want, add to the cart, and then complete your purchase.
  • Can I share my Royalty Free Music account?
When you buy a music subscription, album or individual track, you are not permitted to share your username or password with anyone -– it is for your personal use only. However, if you are the owner/buyer of a subscription, you can share it by buying additional seat licenses. To do so, contact a Royalty Free Music account executive. Please note that album or individual track purchases do not offer seat options.
  • How long do I have to download an individual track or music album after licensing it?
You must download individual tracks or music albums within one (1) year from the date of purchase.
  • Does Royalty Free Music offer refunds?

If you bought a monthly subscription, you may receive a full refund within seven (7) days of your purchase date, provided you have not downloaded more than five (5) items and you have not made any use of the downloaded music. After seven (7) days, or if you have downloaded more than five (5) items or made any use of the music, no cancellations will be accepted, no refunds made, and you will be responsible for and must pay the full amount.

If you bought an annual subscription, you may receive a full refund within seven (7) days of your purchase date, provided you have not downloaded more than five (5) items and you have not made any use of the downloaded music. Between eight (8) and thirty (30) days, or if you have downloaded more than five (5) items (but not made any use of the music), you will be charged for one month of the annual subscription and will receive a refund for the remainder.

If you licensed music on a per-track or per-album basis but have not made any use of it, you may receive a full refund within seven (7) days of your purchase date. Between eight (8) to thirty (30) days of your purchase date, you will receive a refund of 50% of the purchase provided you have not made any use of the downloaded music.

  • What are mechanical rights?
Mechanical rights are rights to copy music. Whenever music is reproduced (whether alone or synchronized in a project) on a physical record or CD album, or even digitally, the mechanical right is being exercised. For many kinds of music, use of this right results in the obligation to pay mechanical royalties. For example, if music is used as a ring tone on 10,000 cell phones, then a mechanical royalty is paid for the use of 10,000 copies of that music. Mechanical rights for up to 5,000 copies are included with all music licensed on the Royalty Free Music site. You pay a one-time license fee for each piece of music you download, and as long as you follow the terms of our license agreement, you don’t incur additional license fees. To purchase the right to make more than 5,000 copies, contact a Royalty Free Music account executive.
  • What are performance rights?
Performance rights are the right to perform music in public. This can include a live performance such as a music concert, or a recorded performance such as a TV commercial or show. For many kinds of music, whenever a song is performed in public, a performance fee must be paid. Performance rights are included with all music licensed on the Royalty Free Music site. You pay a one-time license fee for each track you download, and as long as you follow the terms of our license agreement, you don’t incur additional license fees in the United States and most other countries.
  • Can music be used as background music in a store, waiting room or in on-hold systems?
Yes. You can use our music in stores, waiting rooms or in on hold systems as long as the use does not exceed five (5) physical locations. Contact a Royalty Free Music account executive to purchase the right to use a track in more than 5 locations.
  • Can music be distributed on DVD or other media?
Yes. You can manufacture or distribute up to 5,000 physical units of our music as incorporated in your project on DVD or other media. Contact a Royalty Free Music account executive to purchase the right to make more than 5,000 copies.
  • After a subscription expires, can I continue to use the music I downloaded?

Yes. You can continue to use the music you downloaded during the term of your subscription indefinitely, but only in the same project or program in which you incorporated the music during the term of the subscription (and otherwise according to the terms of the RoyaltyFreeMusic.com Subscription License Agreement).

Music licensed from Royalty Free Music on a per-track or per-album basis may be used indefinitely in multiple projects, in accordance with the terms of the RoyaltyFreeMusic.com License Agreement.

  • Can I have different subscription options for seats I add to my subscription?
No. Seats that are added to a subscription must have the same subscription options, the same expiration date and the same download limit as the primary account owner of the subscription. However, each seat will have its own download count and download history.
  • What is a seat license?
A seat license is a license based on the number of users from the same organization who are granted the right to use a Royalty Free Music subscription. Our subscription allows a single user to download, edit and save music. The person who buys a subscription is the owner and administrator of it. If the owner wants to share the subscription with other users within his/her organization, then he or she can buy additional seat licenses for others within the same organization at a price lower than the full subscription price. Only the subscription owner can buy additional seat licenses.
  • How do I buy additional seat licenses for a subscription?
Only the owner of a subscription can buy additional seat licenses. To do so, contact a Royalty Free Music account executive.
  • When can I buy additional seat licenses?
If you are the owner of a subscription, you can buy additional seat licenses at any time during your subscription term.
  • What does it mean to be assigned a seat license?
When you are assigned a seat license, the subscription owner/buyer has given you the right to use a subscription and to download, edit and save music. You have your own username, password, contact/shipping information and download count and history.
  • Do seats share downloads?
No. Download counts and download histories are not shared. Download caps and information are specific to the user assigned a seat. Depending on the subscription plan, each user assigned a seat is allowed the maximum number of downloads per month and maintains his or her own download status.
