Additional Volume Details
A rich collection of copyright-free music is brought together in Public Domain Music, Vol. 1 , covering a wide variety of genres and time periods, from public domain hymns , to classical favorites. All of these tracks are clear for use and ready to download for your film/video production, multimedia project or as hold music.
A sweet, bluesy version of “Amazing Grace” opens the album, with a little rock infusion via electric guitar, joined by some cymbal for a modern flavor, spare and heartfelt. “ Lookout Mountain ” is another traditional hymn, also associated with the spirituals of the rural South. Evoking the beauty of Appalachia in its lonely fiddle, one also hears the rugged, simple way of life there and the faith that helps fill the void. Another public domain hymn, this one a Christmas classic, is “Joy to the World”, done here in an upbeat acoustic guitar version.
There are a number of classical selections on the album, beginning with “Bach Prelude”, a majestic, regal piece. The impressive organ conjures images of coronations and other royal displays. “Sunrise Serenade Orchestral” is a glorious piece of celebration, joyful and bright, with a rich combination of strings. “Concerto for Violin and Oboe” is also exhilarating. In this Bach masterpiece, the instruments flirt and toy with each other in a happy dance. “The Royal Fireworks” is a fittingly regal, yet uplifting piece, one that would perfectly score a grand display, especially of pyrotechnics. The soaring strings and fluid downturns seem to echo the flight of sparks and colors through the night air.
Two Spanish-influenced pieces appear on the album: “Rendezvous”, with luscious flamenco guitar and synth percussion and “Don Quixote”, with a retro, spacey yet urgent feel, punctuated by castanets.
The sweet, courtly strains of “Greensleeves” appear here in a modern version. Violin is joined by electric guitar in a rich tapestry of sound.
A bouncy ska-inspired track, “Ricky Ticky”, trips with bongos and guitar. “Ricky-tick” refers to the beat of early ragtime or swing music, which gets a unique treatment here, one that is impossible not to tap to.
The album closes with the exotic and soothing “Aloha Oe”, one of the best-known songs of Hawaii , which appears here with a rich, resonant steel guitar and ukulele in a top-quality performance. It is written by Queen Liliuokalani , Hawaii 's last queen, and speaks of a bittersweet parting.
In all of these copyright-free tracks, the musicianship is extraordinary and the recordings are of the highest broadcast quality. This album is an important public domain music collection to add to your production library, perfect for soundtracks, websites, multimedia projects or as hold music.
