| Royalty Free Music > Music News > Background Music Helps Teachers with Creative Curriculum
March 30th, 2006
RoyaltyFreeMusic.com offers the Free Music for Education program that will appeal to countless teachers that have been choosing to implement background music into their regular academic curriculum. The program also offers no-cost alternatives for other educators throughout the United States that have suffered complete losses of their music education programs recently.
In Lexington, Nebraska recently, elementary school music teacher Jane McGee has started to implement creative techniques into her classroom in response to drops in funding for music programs. Her plan helps engage students by having them create their own music assignments, writing lyrics to songs set to background music as a response to a workshop held to help fourth graders handle bullies in school. The workshop itself utilized music to help teach students different techniques for handling social pressures and sparked those that participated to want to find a musical expression that would communicate what they had learned in the workshop to other students.
McGee encouraged each student to write an original song and helped students find appropriate background music and beats to fit the words and tunes they created. More information on this story can be found here . Many teachers are choosing to implement creative learning techniques in their classrooms to promote music learning in schools that are notoriously under-funded, not only at the elementary school level but at every stage of education before and afterwards.
RoyaltyFreeMusic.com features a library of over 700 tracks that can be used in creative school projects as background music or learning tools to teach students about different musical styles. With excellent musical representations of all major genres, including classical, jazz, rock and everything in-between, free for teachers and other education professionals that fill out a simple application , there is not reason not to sign up. The only requirement for participation in this program is that schools, including colleges and universities post a visible link to the page set up for them at RoyaltyFreeMusic.com somewhere visible on the school's web page.
