Copyright Infringement In Iowa

No one is immune to music copyright laws, yet many continue to use illegal file sharing programs. In the past month, several Iowans have been targeted in lawsuits that were filed by some major music companies including Arista, Virgin Records, Motown Record Company, UMG Recordings, BMG Music, Sony and several others.

In the U.S. District Court, in Iowa's Southern District, two lawsuits were filed along with six others in other regions of the state. Named defendants include a Scott and a Clinton County resident charged with illegally sharing music files over the Internet. These two defendants were accused of sharing the songs of popular recording artists, among them Phil Collins, Whitney Houston and Toni Braxton.

Iowa has made the news recently for other types of copyright infringement as well, as others were charged recently by some major film studios for illegally copying and sharing movies over the Internet. These cases and others point out the problems that the Web has brought to music purchasing and payment of royalties. Still, the lawsuits are evidence that the momentary confusion of officials caused by the sudden burst of technology that may have temporarily caused many to feel immune to paying penalties for what seemed to be free file sharing is a thing of the past.

Mozart's Music - Royalty Free

January 27th, commemorates the 250 birthday of Mozart.

In tribute to this prodigy and genius, we will be offering a number of Mozart's compositions, performed exquisitely by one of the worlds leading symphony orchestras.

Mozart was born in Austria and was quickly heralded as a genius, composing orchestral pieces at tender young ages.

His life was chronicled in the motion picture 'Amadeus'.

While certain aspects of the film were not historically accurate, the film did expose many people to this musical genius. Mozart died at the age of 35. There was speculation that he was poisoned by a rival, but there is no evidence which supports the claim.
