No, but it certainly has de-centralized it and forced it back into the gym. My unpopular opinion is the RIAA was absolutely right to sue Napster, Kazaa, Limewire and others. While writing and performing music can be a lot of fun, recording that music to the quality standards we've all come to expect takes way more skill, time, and money than most people would believe. As George Benson said (reportedly), "No music is worth starving for." (also reportedly, he played his guitar in perfect unison while saying this).

Even though iTunes was certainly a welcome remedy to the record biz, I think the real challenge is plummeting album sales. Now that we're back to buying "singles" again, it's really hard for the labels to force us to buy that crappy album with only one good song on it. Their average-price-per-sale just went from $18.00 down to just one dollar. Ouch! .
