Jazz Piano Great Oscar Peterson Remembered

Our hearts are heavy with the loss of Oscar Peterson, one of jazz piano’s greatest legends. Oscar died on Dec 23rd at the age of 82 in his Montreal home.

Peterson's career highlights include over 100 albums, 7 Grammy awards, and a BBC Lifetime Achievement Award. Many jazz aficionados claim that Peterson's peak was in the late 50's with his trio featuring bassist Ray Brown and guitarist Herb Ellis.
Many consider his recording (1956) At the Stratford Shakespearean Festival to be the landmark recording that demonstrates the depth of Peterson's musical prowess. His technique and speed has been compared with that of Art Tatum, who had such a technical mastery of the keyboard that many pianists famously quit the profession after hearing him play.

Oscar Peterson is survived by his fourth wife Kelly, and their daughter, Celine (born 1991) and seven children. It is my privilege to dedicate our album of royalty free jazz music Liquid Lounge to the memory of this beloved jazz legend.
