How to Hold On to Jazzy Ladies
"Have there been studies to prove which genre of music would be best for my company's on hold music?"Karen, WA
You bet, and like my favorite National Lampoon movies, it really boils down to sex. In 1999, Professor James Kellaris at the University of Cincinnati was commissioned by a customer service firm to see if customers' perceived hold times could be shortened by choice of on hold music. It turned out, however that males responded most favorably to classical music while females responded best to light jazz. The happy medium? Light pop alternative. "First, it did not produce significantly more positive or negative reaction in people." wrote Kellaris, "Second, males and females were less polarized in their reactions to this type of music." To hear a terrific RoyaltyFreeMusic album of light pop alternative music, check out Fresh Optimism (#RFM1574) at: http://www.royaltyfreemusic.com/Fresh-Optimism.html. If you're customer base is primarily female, try Jazz Moods Vintage (RFM1115) at: http://www.royaltyfreemusic.com/vintage-jazz-moods.html. If you sell stuff to guys, you gotta go with Classical Music On Hold Vol. 1 (#RFM1599) at: http://www.royaltyfreemusic.com/classical-on-hold-music-1.html
